Joseph graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2003. In 2009, he completed a Ph.D. defending his thesis evaluating motor vehicle accident compensation in Ontario since 1990 – academic expertise that few of Toronto’s best injury lawyers can match, and that he applies daily to build compelling legal arguments for his clients.

Since 2009, Joseph has served as an Adjunct Professor of Insurance Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and is the updating editor of the Butterworths Ontario Motor Vehicle Insurance Practice Manual, the leading textbook on Ontario auto insurance law. He is a frequent commentator on insurance and personal injury law for the Toronto Star, CBC Radio, Canadian Underwriter, Law Times and The Lawyer’s Daily, and has been recognized in Best Lawyers® in Canada for Personal Injury Litigation.

Joseph has appeared before nearly every level of court and tribunal in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and the Social Benefits Tribunal.

He led one of the ground-breaking cases in Ontario chronic pain law, and has been a vocal advocate on access-to-justice issues, including challenging the constitutionality of legislation that restricts the right of injured Ontarians to sue.
