David J. Levy

David J. Levy is the Managing Partner of Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP and a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario. He has been a personal injury trial lawyer in Toronto since his call to the Bar in 1999, and over 25 years has built a reputation as one of Ontario’s most capable trial lawyers in complex personal injury cases – to the point that other Ontario personal injury law firms retain him as external trial counsel when their most serious cases require courtroom advocacy.

David served as Managing Partner of Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP from 2014 to 2022 and resumed that leadership role at the end of 2024. He combines senior firm management responsibilities with an active litigation caseload – a balance that speaks to both his work ethic and the depth of support available at HSH. His practice covers motor vehicle accidents, accident benefits, medical malpractice, slip and fall, and long-term disability claims.

David holds an LLB and BCL from McGill University – dual law degrees earned simultaneously in 1997. He teaches at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a frequent presenter at legal education programs across Ontario. He is also a frequent media commentator on personal injury and insurance law, having appeared on CTV News Channel and Newstalk 1010, and published in CBA National Magazine, Law Times, and the Toronto Star.

His results include a $10.32 million outcome for a teen severely injured in a car accident – one of the largest personal injury results in Ontario history – and multiple additional outcomes in the seven figures across his career. He has appeared before Ontario courts and tribunals at every level throughout his career.
