D. Joel Dick

Joel Dick is a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation by the Law Society of Ontario and a partner at Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP who is a brain injury lawyer, motor vehicle accidents lawyer, bicycle and pedestrian accident claims lawyer, long-term disability lawyer, and correctional misconduct lawyer – representing individuals harmed by negligence or misconduct within Ontario’s correctional institutions.

Joel holds a JD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law alongside two Master’s degrees – in International Relations (U of T) and Peace Studies (Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Indiana). He served as an adjudicator on the Toronto Licensing Tribunal for three years, teaches insurance law at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, and is a published author (Yorkland Publishing anthology “Tender Worlds”). His correctional misconduct advocacy has contributed – through a coroner’s inquest – to concrete policy recommendations for Ontario’s correctional facilities. He is a member of the Canadian Prison Law Association and the Law Union of Ontario.
